Michael Buffington

I met rabble at foo camp 06 and played a few games of Werewolf with him. I was convinced at one point that he was a werewolf, despite his excellent defense. I now find him to be a trustworthy individual, because his defense, as it turns out, was completely truthful in the end.

I met Jeff at foo camp 06, and felt very privileged to be able to do so. When I was much younger and doing my first startup, Jeff’s management style was something I wanted to emulate, and treating my employees with kindness and trusting them to do good work was something that I’d seen Jeff do with his employees.

Seeing Jeff and his hunger to learn about what people are doing, and his eagerness to share ideas and participate when others might not expect him to has reinforced my respect for him.

I hope that someday I can become half as funny and twice as wealthy as Michael.

Or the other way around. Either would work.

His whole family came over to Matt Haughey’s house for a yummy dinner while Ryan and I were passing through town on a cross country roadtrip. There was corn and a yummy cake and 2.5 little tykes to play with. Twas good times.

I find Dave admirable. During interviews, Dave is constantly talking about the worth of his employees, and how important they are, and indeed – Dave goes to great lengths to make sure his employees have the best benefits and are paid the most in the airline industry. This says a lot considering that his company is a new airline in a struggling economy where profit margins are slim.

I’ve heard several times that Dave will often perform the duties of every position in the company for a day. He’ll be a baggage handler, a flight attendant, a ticket agent – everything except being a pilot.

Dave also has ADHD - a disorder than can be crippling for some, but is something Dave has taken advantage of it and doesn’t let slow him down.

I had two mustaches, though the bridge-stache was just barely coming in. It might have been hard to see, and I wasn’t talking about it much. But it’s blossomed since then. Maybe the next time I see Mike we can talk about number two.

When I met Michael he had a moustache.

The last time I saw McBuff (he likes this nickname) was in Seattle. He, Erik, Lee, Cameron, Lilia and I went out for dinner. Eventually the core group was whittled down to Michael, Cameron, Erik and myself. Which is when I ordered Makers on the rocks. Poor Michael had been up the night before on the town with Erik and Cameron. I rarely get out as I’m a homebody so I was ready to tear it up.

At any rate, I want Michael to know that I’m probably more of a family man in habit than he is in reality and the next time he’s in town we can get a bite to eat, go biking or catch a flick without having to do shots. A too-ta lur!
